1 box ziti (or penne) – cooked until just underdone
1 Quart Jar Cannizzaro Marinara (ALL Cannizzaro Sauces would actually be GREAT in this recipe!)
1 16 oz Container ricotta cheese
8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese
8 oz Spinach – wilted or frozen and squeezed of water, chopped up (optional)
1 lb Ground Beef (optional)
Grated Parmesan cheese, to taste
Heat oven to 375°F. Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente, drain. While pasta cooks, brown ground beef with salt and pepper to taste (if using). In large bowl, stir together cooked pasta, 1/2 of the sauce, ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, spinach (if using) and ground beef (if using). In 13 x 9 baking dish, spoon in pasta mixture; top with remaining sauce. Layer sliced fresh mozzarella on top and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese; cover with foil. Bake 30-35 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Remove foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes.
This can be put together in advance and refrigerated (before baking). Just remove from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before baking and enjoy!
